Upcoming Features

A lightweight public roadmap for BlockForm. Nothing here is guaranteed on a fixed date; priorities shift as inspection teams use the product and share feedback. For recently shipped features and day-by-day notes, see the Development Log.

In progress

  • Part measurement blocks — Dimensional sub-blocks in the report editor so AI severity and analysis prompts can reference measured deviations, not only photos.

Planned next

  • Workspace search refinements — Tag search on linked assemblies, inspection date-range filters, and server-side search when workspace size outgrows client-side filtering.
  • Team plan and user permissions — Apply the role and per-user permission matrix on the account page across inspect forms, templates, parts, and reports.
  • Full-report template picker — Start a new inspection from a saved full-report layout (for example, a standard 12-page hydraulic teardown) instead of rebuilding block structure every job.
  • Report template library — Browseable layouts and patterns for teams that want standardized report shells beyond per-team Format Report Settings in Global Settings (promoted from Exploring).

Exploring

Ideas under research or discussion—good candidates for customer feedback and beta programs.

  • Enterprise onboarding — Seat management, SSO, and org-wide defaults beyond the current Team plan.
  • Smarter duplicate handling on upload — Broader merge and dedupe across BOM rows, assemblies, and the Parts Library after large STEP imports (Parts Library merge exists today; upload-time dedupe is the longer-term goal).
  • Collaborative editing — Multiple inspectors contributing to one report draft with clear ownership and review states.
  • Offline-first sync — Deeper IndexedDB caching and conflict handling when reports are edited away from the network.
